A CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community), also known as a Life Plan Community, is a community that offers multiple levels of care in a single facility. Unlike individual Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing facilities, a CCRC features all of those care types in one location. Seniors who require Independent or Assisted Living will enjoy the familiarity and peace of mind of remaining in the same apartment or cottage until they need a higher level of care, and then they will make a short relocation to a different part of the facility. To move into a CCRC requires considerable decision-making and financial means, as a substantial down payment is required before moving in, and financial arrangements must be in place before an application is approved. An attorney and/or financial planner should be consulted by those who are interested in CCRC living since there are different contract models to consider and different ways of making financial arrangements to pay for a CCRC.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) accommodate older adults in any stage of aging. CCRC adapts to the changing needs of the elderly, allowing seniors to live in one place without the need to move to places just to meet their needs. The elderly residents of CCRC are provided with a complete range of lifestyle accommodations, from independent living to assisted living and skilled nursing care.
